Scan Laser PhotocoagulatorNidek Co. Ltd. has announced the YLC-500 Vixi Yellow Scan Laser Photocoagulator and the YLC-500 Yellow Laser Photocoagulator, designed for ophthalmology.

The YLC-500 Vixi/YLC-500 is a yellow laser using the innovative OPSL (optically pumped semiconductor laser) method for stable and reliable laser delivery, generating optimal treatment outcomes. The 577-nm yellow laser is minimally absorbed by xanthophyll and is well absorbed by oxygenated hemoglobin compared to the 532-nm laser, making it the wavelength of choice for lesions close to the macula.

A wide range of selectable delivery units are available. In addition to single delivery units, scan delivery units are available for a wide range of yellow laser delivery systems. The YLC-500 Vixi has 22 preprogrammed scan patterns to allow treatment of diverse retinal pathologies.
