The MultiMode 8 scanning probe microscope launched by Veeco Instruments Inc. employs two proprietary and patent-pending technologies, ScanAsyst and PeakForce QNM. The former has an automated imaging optimization mode that provides access to advanced applications to obtain research-quality results; the latter is a quantitative nanomechanical property mapping option that delivers accurate and repeatable results for modulus and adhesion measurements while preserving sample and probe integrity. The NanoScope Version 8.1 software offers a simplified interface and more powerful tools for data acquisition and off-line analysis. The system features a rigid mechanical design and advanced control electronics.
