Scientific/CCD486 The CCD486 is an active-element, solid-state CCD full-frame sensor designed for advanced scientific, space, industrial and commercial digital imaging applications. Organized as an array of 4096 horizontal by 4096 vertical imaging elements, the CCD486 is available in front- and back-illuminated configurations and features a pixel pitch of 15 µm with a 100% fill factor.

For dark references, each readout line is preceded by 18 dark pixels. A split readout architecture accommodates high frame rates through four output ports and slower readout modes through two output channels, or a single readout port to simplify the drive electronics. A single-stage source follower output amplifier ensures low-noise performance.

Other features of the CCD 486 include a 61.44 x 61.44-mm image area, multipinned phase (MPP) operation, readout noise of less than 4 e at 50k pixels per second, dynamic range of 20,000:1 in MPP, four low-noise output amplifiers, a three-phase buried channel and support for 2 x 2 binning.
