BARRINGTON, N.J., Feb. 24, 2015 — Edmund Optics Techspec silicon aspheric lensesManufactured using an optical-grade silicon substrate, Techspec silicon aspheric lenses from Edmund Optics are suited for weight-sensitive IR systems, including those found in many defense applications.

The lenses offer high performance for midwave-infrared (MWIR) applications and provide an alternative for costly ZnSe lenses and brittle germanium lenses. They also exhibit the mechanical and thermal properties needed to withstand the effects of harsh environments, including temperature and pressure fluctuations.

The lenses provide diffraction-limited performance and are available in six 25-mm diameter models.
