A series of 1064-nm silicon avalanche photodiode (APD) preamplifier modules from CMC Electronics Inc. is designed to improve laser applications.

The receivers feature a high signal-to-noise ratio and provide accurate and consistent readings under challenging conditions. They can be used for ultralow light signals quickly, accurately, and consistently detecting long distances. Users benefit from fast overload recovery that minimizes receiver damage and usage interruption from high laser burst. The ROHS-compliant modules provide a minimum of 1000 kV/W responsivity with a high-density microcircuit combined with advanced optoelectronics. Nanosecond recovery from laser bursts without damage enables the receiver to detect low optical signal powers in fW range at high temperatures. It can be used in laser rangefinder and airborne and atmospheric lidar applications, reliably detecting wavelengths at 1064 nm.
