Silicon Photomultiplier Detector

SensL has announced the SPMMatrix, a large-area, high-channel-count silicon photomultiplier detector and readout electronics for radiation imaging, mammography, PET and gamma cameras, x-ray, single-photon-emission CT, and nuclear and particle physics applications. The device consists of a 61.28 x 61.28-mm silicon photomultiplier detection area utilizing the company’s SPMArray4 detectors mounted on a matrix board. Two analog boards each containing 16 analog channels provide amplification, discrimination and energy sampling. The detector is supplied with a field-programmable gate array board that implements cross-wire logic time stamping and readout/buffering events to the USB or openPET bus.
