Silicon PhotomultipliersThe MPPC S13720 series of silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) from Hamamatsu Corp. feature enhanced NIR sensitivity.

With higher sensitivity in the 905-nm band compared to conventional SiPMs, the devices are suitable for long-distance measurement using a time-of-flight method such as automotive lidar applications where they can enable the sensor fusion needed for autonomous vehicle development. Sensitive to 350- to 1000-nm wavelengths with high NIR sensitivity, the detectors have a photosensitive area size of 1.3 × 1.3 mm.

The SiPMs are available in a ceramic package with leads and a surface mount package; however, a bare die package may be available upon inquiry. They can be operated within a wide temperature range from −40 to 85 °C. Other features include high gain, low cost and low dark counts.
