Hamamatsu.jpgThe NanoZoomer 2.0 series slide scanners from Hamamatsu Corp. can convert a 20 × 20-mm area on a glass slide into a 1.9-gigapixel color image in less than 2 min. The virtual slides can be viewed on a computer monitor, shared across computer networks, used for software-aided image analysis in research applications and preserved in digital archives. Users can magnify specific areas to inspect fine details and can capture and view multiple focal planes in thick samples. Both the high-throughput and compact models can be fitted with a fluorescence imaging unit.
