CHATENAY-MALABRY, France, Aug. 12, 2014 — The Snake SW from Sofradir provides shortwave-infrared imaging for military applications.

The uncooled InGaAs focal plane array is sensitive from 0.9 to 1.7 µm, and optionally from 0.4 to 1.7 µm. It was developed with a VGA format (640 × 512) and a pitch of 15 µm.

It has a low noise level (measured within 30 electrons) and a frame rate up to 300 images per second.

The system is intended for use in night combat, aircraft landing and taxiing, and self-protection and navigation for armored vehicles.
