CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 19, 2012 — UTC Aerospace Systems has introduced its next-generation Sensors Unlimited short-wavelength infrared (SWIR) digital video cameras.
The high-resolution InGaAs mil-rugged cameras feature a 30-Hz full-frame rate and snapshot mode capability. The GA1280JS includes a global shutter function with 1.3-megapixel resolution at 1280 × 1024 pixels and a 12.5-μm pitch.
The camera weighs <120 g without the lens and measures <74 cm3, enabling easy integration into aerial, mobile and handheld imaging systems. It provides real-time daylight to low-light imaging (including partial moonlight) in the SWIR with high sensitivity from 0.9 to 1.7 µm.
The optional NIR/SWIR model operates from 0.5 to 1.7 µm. The InGaAs-SWIR sensor images through smoke, fog and haze. All-solid-state, the cameras require no cooling and feature onboard automatic gain control and real-time nonuniformity correction, making it possible to address the challenges of urban night imaging, without blooming.
The 12-bit digital base with Camera Link output provides intuitive plug-and-play functionality. The dynamic range makes the cameras suited for local area image processing and/or transmission. They have been tested to MIL-STD-810G for functional shock, vibration, thermal shock, storage temperature, altitude, humidity and acceleration.
