Solar PV Module Junction Box

MILTON KEYNES, England, Oct. 4, 2011 — Cyntech Components has unveiled a universal junction box for silicon wafer solar photovoltaic (PV) modules that can be quickly customized to suit each application. It comes with three surface-mount bypass diodes as standard, but up to six can be installed.

There is a choice of soldered or crimpled contacts, and the boxes can accommodate standard ribbon cables or nonribbon crossing cables. This easy customization means that only one type of box has to be stocked to meet the requirements of a variety of applications.

Sealed with a Gore-Tex membrane, the IP67-rated box measures 111 × 140 × 26.5 mm and accommodates between two and eight ribbons with a maximum diameter of 7.5 mm. The conductor cross section can measure 4 or 6 mm. Depending upon the configuration, overall current rating is 20 A, and the junction box is rated at 1000 VDC to TÜV EN50521.
