Solarization-Resistant Fibers
Molex, FiberguideRequest Info
STIRLING, N.J., Aug. 5, 2009 – Fiberguide Industries Inc. has introduced a full line of standard solarization-resistant fibers for deep-UV applications. They are suitable for spectroscopy, lithography and excimer laser delivery applications where fibers are exposed to deuterium lamp transmission from 190 to 230 nm or to ArF-Excimer lasers at 193 nm.
Prolonged UV transmission below 260 nm causes solarization in optical fibers, reducing their UV transmittance significantly. The solarization-resistant fibers use a modified core preform that protects them from the damaging effects of deep-UV. They provide good performance and long-term stability at 30% to 40% transmission at 215 nm. Fiber core sizes can be produced from 50 to greater that 1000 µm. Customer cabled or multi-fiber assemblies are also available.
