Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has introduced a sample position illuminator that now is standard with its NanoDrop 8000 spectrophotometer. It lights wells from underneath the plate to help the user know which wells to draw from. From the GUI of the included software, the user can select one or more wells or can define upper and lower measurement limits such as the desired concentration range. The spectrophotometer takes full-spectrum UV-VIS absorbance measurements of eight 1-μl samples in 20 s.
