Fibercore Ltd. has released two new spun fiber products suitable for use in polarimetric sensors, including AC and DC fiber optic current transformers for electrical power generation and distribution.

The SHB Spun High Birefringence fibers preserve circular polarization and are therefore insensitive to thermal- or vibration-induced signal fade/drift, making them suitable for long- or small-diameter sensor coils.

The SLB Spun Low Birefringence fibers are designed for short-length, large-coil-diameter Faraday-effect current sensors. They do not resist the optical effects caused by coiling-induced stress, thermal fluctuations or vibration.
