For use in industrial and biomedical applications, Nikon Metrology Inc. has introduced the SMZ-745 stereoscopic microscope. The airtight, antielectrostatic and antimold design prevents samples from being damaged by electrostatic discharge as well as by contaminants such as dust and water. The microscope is optimized with the Greenough optical system, allowing it to reach a zoom ratio of up to 7.5x. When combined with the auxiliary objective lens and eyepiece, the magnification ranges from 3.35x to 330x. It also has a total reflection prism that produces bright, high-contrast images. Featuring a working distance of up to 115 mm and a trinocular optical head suitable for monitoring and digital imaging, the microscope is ergonomically built. The flexible, customizable instrument is useful in production environments and laboratories.
