Superluminescent LEDs
Exalos AGRequest Info
Exalos AG has expanded its portfolio of 840-nm superluminescent LEDs (SLEDs) by introducing new high-power devices that can provide more than 20 mW of power.
The 840-nm SLEDs are especially suited for medical imaging applications such as OCT and fiber-optic sensor applications due to high output power and large spectral bandwidth. For spectral domain OCT applications, higher output power from the SLED allow for more asymmetric splitting ratios in the interferometer and therefore in lower losses for the received OCT signal, enabling higher acquisition speeds or higher sensitivity.
Higher power SLEDs also help realizing surgical ophthalmic systems or multi-modal imaging systems where the OCT path is shared and therefore experiences higher losses. For fiber sensing applications, higher power broadband sources are needed for longer-range systems. The 840-nm SLEDs can provide an output power of >20 mW from a single-mode fiber and a have 3-dB spectral bandwidths of >50 nm.
