ELMIRA, N.Y., Sept. 26, 2013 — The Suprema 1000M cylindrical grinding machine from Jones and Shipman, a subsidiary of Hardinge Inc., features self-teach programming software for applications in tool-room, batch or high-volume production.

Larger wheel diameters provide longer wheel life and reduce the number of dresses required in the grinding cycles. The device has a swiveling wheel head with a left (400 × 50 mm) and right (350 × 50 mm) external wheel. A belt-driven internal grinding system accepts an optional internal spindle.

Wheel head power of 5 kW reduces cycle times, while a redesigned machine guard improves machine accessibility. The device operates in manual, semi- or fully automatic modes for control of grinding and dressing cycles.

Features include online storage for all dressing and grind programs, USB connectivity, improved reaction times, color touch screen, a robust “tee bed” design, and high geometric accuracy.
