KOMAKI, Japan, March 10, 2023 — Swept Photonic AnalyzerThe SPA-100 Swept Photonics Analyzer from Santec Corp. uses optical frequency domain reflectometry technology to analyze fiber optic and photonic devices with a spatial resolution of 5 μm or better.

The system can measure insertion loss and reflectance of internal structures of photonic integrated circuits, as well as parameters such as waveguide length and refractive index. Its coherent detection technology provides a transmissive wavelength dependent loss measurement with a wide dynamic range exceeding 70 dB with no gain switching. The system also features a patented proximity sensing function for the fiber probe to facilitate the alignment process during the wafer-level characterization process in a silicon photonic chip production line. It can analyze small and compact devices like silicon photonic circuits, fiber optic components, and fiber optic assemblies.
