T8 LED Lighting Tubes

TAIPEI, Taiwan, May 21, 2010 — GlacialTech Inc. has launched the T8 low-power LED lighting tubes under the GlacialLight brand. Their power consumption is <10 W for a 2-ft tube, and under 20 W for a 4-ft tube. They individually support four AC input voltage specs, including 100 to 110, 120, 220 to 240 and 277 V.

The T8 features overtemperature protection (OTP) that automatically shuts down the tube at a relatively high temperature and starts it up at a relatively low temperature. When the input voltage does not fall within its specified range, the OTP is triggered. The LED tubes are designed to replace the cathode fluorescent tubes (CFTs) currently available. Using a relatively lower wattage, the T8 has the same structure and style of traditional CFTs but delivers brighter performance per watt, with less heat radiation.

An eco-friendly proprietary and patented LED driver is built in. Unlike conventional drivers emitting electromagnetic interference via either electromagnetic conduction or electromagnetic radiation, the LED driver does not interfere with the effective performance of noise-sensitive electronic devices such as television sets, cell phones, AM/FM radios, medical instruments and military equipment.

There are no toxic gasses in the tubes. They are robust and weatherproof and can be used also in indoor applications. They contain high-quality components designed for high brightness and a long life span of 20,000 h, minimum. The short 2-ft version produces >500 lm at a flux of 52 to 58 lm/W with 130 to 206 lx at 1 m, whereas the longer 4-ft version produces >1000 lm at 54 to 64 lm/W with 212 to 377 lx at 1 m. The net weight varies from 0.15 to 0.30 kg. These products are designed to fit into standard G13 socket assemblies, and thus can replace traditional tubes without any inconvenience to the user.

The LEDs are suitable for use in flashlights, torches and spotlights, and they require no warm-up time in cold environments. They emit no harmful radiation and don’t contain hazardous metals. Their carbon footprint is extremely small, making them environmentally friendly.
