The LDT-5412B thermoelectric temperature controller from ILX Lightwave, a Newport Corp. brand, can be used for testing laser diodes, photodetectors and other optoelectronic devices. It features 6 W of temperature control, an intuitive front panel and long term ±0.01 °C temperature stability for wavelength-sensitive and other high-stability applications.

The controller incorporates a low-noise, bipolar current output with closed loop temperature control and displays both measured thermistor resistance and TEC output current. A new linearized thermistor sensor mode allows the device to display and control to a user-targeted temperature for 10 kΩ thermistors.

The unit’s output can be current limited within its 0- to 2-A range; during operation, the module current is held to the set limit value to ensure it cannot be overdriven. In addition, it will report sensor open and thermoelectric module errors.
