TEMPERATURE CONTROL Wavelength Electronics Inc.'s most recent release of its WHY5640 general-purpose analog proportional-integral control loop, for use in thermoelectric or resistive heater temperature-control applications, is a drop-in replacement for the HY 5640. The company says that its improved design provides better stability (0.008 °C, typical) across the operating temperature range. An active resistor bridge circuit maintains precision temperature regulation. The controller drives up to ±2 A of heat and cool current to a thermoelectric or resistive heater from a single power supply, and two or more units can be connected to drive higher output currents. It operates from 5 to 26 V.
