Nanomotion_AB5-07.jpgNanomotion Inc. has introduced a thermal protection feature within its AB5 driver to minimize damage to servo motors caused by overheating. Based on a microcontroller, the option is a computing algorithm that calculates the temperature of the motor by time-integrating the command, corresponding to the input power and calculating the heating/cooling profile. The feature is offered for configurations that include an HR or ST motor, 25 or 50° ambient air temperature and 25° vacuum environment. It is suitable for high-duty-cycle applications and joystick operation in open loop.
