Scientific-Atlanta Inc. has introduced a series of modular 1550-nm externally modulated electro-optic transmitters and erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, and 1310-nm midpower fiber optic transmitters. Part of the Prisma Optical Network family of products, these new instruments allow operators of hybrid fiber-coax networks to achieve greater transmission distances, more signal subdivisions during distribution, improved system margins and better noise distortion performance. They are suited for interconnect and narrowcasting applications.
