New Focus Inc. has added long-wavelength-tunable lasers to its TLB-6300 Velocity series. They cover out to 2 µm and offer continuous mode-hop-free tuning at 20 nm/s and with high resolution, narrow <300-kHz linewidths and 0.1-nm wavelength repeatability. Various models cover from 1220 to 2000 nm and deliver output from >5 to >2 mW. A connector on the laser head enables current modulation rates of up to 100 MHz, and a piezoelectric transducer inside the cavity enables fine-frequency modulation at up to 2 kHz.
