New Infrared Technologies has released Tachyon 6400 Core, a series of two high-performance mid-wave IR cores/engines for OEM applications based on an 80 × 80 uncooled focal plane array readout integrated circuit.

The Core-HS unit offers an image acquisition rate of 2 kHz (2000 fps) focused toward defense applications, and the Core-S provides an image acquisition rate of 500 Hz (500 fps) for industrial applications. The plug-and-play models work uncooled at room temperature.

For defense applications, the systems enable the development of passive IR cuing systems, active protection systems, final guidance, intelligent ammunition and countermeasures, with an orientation to affordable system developments, the company said.

Other applications include gas and fire detection and characterization, recycling identification and food inspection.
