Tech Spec Polarizing Cube Beamsplitters

BARRINGTON, N.J., April 26, 2006 -- Edmund Optics, a manufacturer of optical and imaging components, has
introduced a precision-grade cube beamsplitter for high-power Nd:YAG
lasers. Tech Spec high-energy polarizing cube beamsplitters use
multilayer dielectric film technology to minimize reflection and
absorption losses. The result is a beamsplitter that puts maximum
optical power where it's needed while handling high laser-power
densities up to 5 J/cm2, the company said.
Designed
specifically for high-power laser applications at 532 nm or 1064 nm
Yd:YAG lasers, these beamsplitters feature a precision fused silica
substrate and high-energy coatings. A unique optical contact bonding
method eliminates the need for adhesive between the prisms,
simultaneously improving the damage threshold of the beamsplitter and
parallelism of incoming and exiting beams. A V-coat antireflective
coating at the design wavelength virtually eliminates energy loss,
according to Edmund Optics.
The company said the beamsplitters
are an excellent complement to Edmund's full suite of laser optics and
accessories, and can be easily integrated into applications with its
precision positioning equipment.
General specifications:
- Designed for 532 nm or 1064 nm Nd:YAG lasers
- Damage threshold tested for 5 J/cm2, 8 ns pulses
- Extinction ratio > 500:1
