VICTOR, N.Y., Oct. 23, 2012 — The TeraFlash system, Toptica Photonics Inc.'s new tabletop platform for time-domain terahertz spectroscopy, has an all-fiber design based on mature 1.5-μm telecom technology that combines proprietary femtosecond fiber lasers with state-of-the-art InGaAs antennas.
Using a precise delay stage, the TeraFlash achieves a peak dynamic range of >70 dB.
Users can choose precise scan or fast scan mode. Precise scan attains a bandwidth of 4 THz and a resolution >10 GHz. Fast scan acquires a pulse trace in 50 ms. Users can arrange the fiber-coupled antenna modules as needed.
Integrated in the system is the company’s FemtoFErb 1560 compact ultrafast laser. The saturable-absorber-mirror mode-locked fiber oscillator and polarization-maintaining fibers ensure robust and alignment-free hands-off operation.
Applications include high-bandwidth spectroscopy (e.g., of explosives or liquid crystals) and industrial process control.
Features include fiber-coupled InGaAs photoconductive switches and selectable resolution from 4 to 40 GHz.
