Vista combines the characterization power of thermal analysis with the imaging capabilities of modern optical microscopy. The device allows optical images of a sample to be captured simultaneously with thermal data during an experiment, a method called thermal analysis by structural characterization (TASC).

Image processing software from Cyversa analyzes these images to produce thermal curves based upon changes in sample features observed during the experiment. The image analysis produces curves that are complementary to differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and enable the characterization of melting, softening and even dissolution behavior by tracking features observed on the surface of the sample as it is heated or cooled.
