BOZEMAN, Mont., March 22, 2012 — ILX Lightwave, a Newport Corp. brand, has unveiled the LDT-5940C thermoelectric temperature controller for testing laser diodes and other optoelectronic devices. It features 60 W of temperature control, an intuitive front panel, and a standard IEEE 488.1 general-purpose interface bus and USB 2.0 remote interfaces.
It was designed for customers requiring high power and high stability. With a digital proportional integral derivative (PID) control loop, it achieves temperature stability of <±0.003 °C with output current noise and ripple of <2 mA rms.
For fast setup, the controller incorporates preset PID values and a fast autotune PID mode that determines optimal values. It is compatible with thermistors, resistance temperature detectors, and LM335 and AD590 integrated circuit and other sensors. The linearized thermistor sensor mode allows the controller to achieve ±0.2 °C temperature accuracy over a range from −30 to 85 °C with a standard 10-K? thermistor.
Interlocks allow the user to connect the controller to a laser diode driver and will disable the laser output if the controller is disabled or is over the user-configurable temperature limit. An analog voltage input performs temperature sweeping or tuning without using a remote interface or front panel control.
LabView drivers for the LDT-5940C are available for download from the ILX Lightwave website.
