Time-Resolved Fluorescence Spectrometer

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 15, 2014 — A new time-resolved fluorescence spectrometer from Newport Corp. is suited for studying the dynamics of a variety of samples.
The TRFLS can measure fluorescence lifetime and sample dynamics and is flexibly designed for use with femtosecond oscillators or amplified femtosecond lasers. It includes a packaged PMT, automated crystal rotator and Oriel monochromator.
The laser input to the TRFLS is split into two beams in the fluorescence upconversion mode of operation, which can be used over a range of 3.3 ns. The pump excites the fluorescent sample, and the gating pulse sets the time over which the fluorescent emission from the sample is analyzed.
A second mode of operation, time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) can be used in combination with a fast photomultiplier tube (PMT) for increasing the time range of the measurement and for increased sensitivity.
