Cognex Corp. has released Tire Solutions, a suite of products using proprietary machine vision, identification and bar-code-reading technologies for bar-code and low-contrast embossed character reading applications in tire manufacturing.

Proprietary features include 1DMax+ with Hotbars algorithms to provide high bar-code read rates; DataMan fixed-mount readers with no moving parts; image-based readers that allow users to see what the reader sees; Xpand technology that enables bar-code readers to cover a larger field of view with less equipment; a DS1000 series 3-D sensor to read embossed characters on curved, dark surfaces at speeds of one tire revolution per second; OCRMax vision technology for high-contrast reading results from low-contrast reading environments; and DS1000 software for 2-D and 3-D inspection.
