Toshiba's IK-HD5U CameraToshiba Imaging’s unique, 3-CMOS IK-HD5U video camera features full HD 1080p at 59.94 frames per second (fps) with USB3.0 output for convenient simultaneous display and image capture.

The new camera is Toshiba Imaging’s highest sensitivity camera in their extensive product line, making it ideal for ophthalmology systems, microscopy applications applied to clinical pathology, live cell imaging, inspection, assembly, surgical microscopy, defense imaging systems, and IR inspection. A special imaging sensor and expanded camera controls provide increased sensitivity in the near-IR range, resulting in approximately 3 dB increased sensitivity in the 700 - 870 nm spectrum. A removable optical low pass filter (OLPF) allows for dual-mode imaging applications switchable between visible light and near-infrared visualization. The high definition IK-HD5U camera can be used for any HD video application, as well as applications which use fluorescing agents.

Switchable formats between 1080p and 1080i, the 2.1 megapixel sensor provides progressive-scan full-HD video that delivers up to 1,000 TV lines resolution. Innovative user features include image flip and mirror, a binning mode that provides a 4x increase in sensitivity, five user-configurable settings files, gen-lock for 3-D and multi-camera use, and remote control via RS232. Two configurations are available each providing two simultaneous video outputs with either 3G-SDI/HD-SDI and DVI-D or DVI-D and USB3.0 outputs.

In addition to providing full frame-rate 1920 x 1080 at 59.94 fps HD video output via USB3.0, the new IK-HD5U configuration incorporates freeze frame, and longer exposure times (up to 1 second / 60 frames). The camera head is extremely compact (1.28” x 1.52” x 1.61”) and lightweight at only 3.3 oz., making it very useful when imaging in tight or confined spaces, such as microscopy. The standard C-mount lens mount adds convenience and flexibility for a wide variety of imaging applications.
