50-G Transistor Outline (TO) can packages from Schott AG provide high speed for datacom applications.

50-G TO will deliver 50-GBd single-channel data transmission, enabling 100 Gb/s single-channel with PAM4 modulation, 200 Gb/s per second with NRZ (without PAM4), and 400 Gb/s with four-channel PAM4 modulation.

Applications include 50-G Ethernet, 64-G fiber channel, and up to 400-G with QSFP transceivers. Particularly notable is the capability for 50-G CPRI up to 40 km where EML lasers would be necessary.
