Transmitter ModuleVI Systems GmbH has announced the VM64-850M transmitter module for data transmission using a 4- or 8-PAM encoding scheme for data rates of more than 64 Gbps.

The fiber-coupled, 850-nm, vertical cavity surface emitting laser transmitter module features a V connector for an electrical input signal and a 50/125 multimode fiber for an optical output, terminated with a standard FC/PC connector. Maximum output power is 4 mW with a typical operating voltage of 2.4 V.

The VM64-850M transmitter module is designed for test setups aimed at development of advanced short-reach optical interconnects.
