Transparent Video DisplayPlanar Systems Inc. has announced the LookThru organic LED display, achieving transparent displays for video.

Eliminating the need for a backlight or enclosure, the self-emitting technology makes it possible to create see-through installations unobstructed by enclosures that sit behind displays. Video, images and text can be viewed on a frameless glass display, while overlaying content onto real objects or scenes that sit behind the glass.

The 55-in. display offers high picture quality, high contrast and wide viewing angles with light transitivity of 45 percent. Tabletop-, ceiling- and flush-mounted models are available for retail, corporate or museum settings.
