FAIRBORN, Ohio, Oct. 18, 2010 — LaserLinc has released a three-axis laser scan micrometer, the Triton331. With a 30-mm measurement window, it can make 12,000 measurements per s (4000 per axis). The higher scan rate enables detection of shorter-length flaws and accurate measurement of hexagonal or other product shapes that incur oscillation. The instrument also measures nonconstant diameter products, such as corrugated tubing.

The standard measurement rate is 4800 per s, with 12,000 as an option. Measurement range is from 0.25 to 30 mm, with maximum measurement size of 30 mm. Resolution is 0.25 µm, single-scan repeatability is ±0.0508 mm, two-second repeatability is ±0.25 µm, and positional error is ±2.54 µm within center of 25.4 mm.

The system measures 335 × 409 × 51 mm and weighs 10 kg.

The gauge is also well-suited for the company's Lobex system for in-process lobing measurement on centerless ground products, including centerless ground wire. It links, via the TLAser400 micrometer interface card, to a PC running the proprietary Total Vu software, a sophisticated and operator-friendly measurement/data processing package that runs on any Windows-based PC, providing in-process tolerance checking, trending, statistical process control, feedback control, data logging and recipes.

The micrometer is covered by a four-year warranty on all parts and labor, and the company provides lifetime support, which includes the option of remote desktop interface with support staff to pinpoint and solve difficult problems.
