Trumpf Inc. said its TruLaser 5030 flatbed laser machine surpasses its predecessor, the Trumatic L3050, by providing improved processes, greater dynamics and less downtime.

According to the company, the highlight of the TruLaser 5030 is the single cutting-head strategy. "Thanks to the newly designed beam guide and cutting head interface, all sheet thicknesses can now be processed using the same cutting head. The machine automatically changes the laser beam depending on the material to be processed -- no need to switch the head," said James Rogowski, product manager, 2-D lasers for Trumpf Inc. "This is especially helpful for automated operation with various materials. Even without automation the one cutting-head strategy reduces downtime."

And with the optional nozzle exchanger there is no need to manually exchange the nozzle, he said.

The integrated collision protection safely guards the cutting head from damage as the head now folds away during a collision. With the new intelligent interface, the head can easily be put back in place. The cutting head will also automatically reassume the correct position in the case of small collisions, Trumpf said.

Another advantage of the TruLaser 5030 is the new FastLine process, the company said. It optimizes the entire cutting process, ensuring maximum efficiency. As a result, processing times can drop by up to 50 percent in thin sheets.

Trumpf said it will introduce the TruLaser 5030 at Fabtech 2007 in Chicago, Nov. 11-14.
