DiCon Fiberoptics has announced a new tunable optical filter module for the GP750, a fiber optic test system that is able to automate fiber optic switches, fiber optical variable attenuators and, now, tunable optical filters. Based on proprietary microelectromechanical systems technology, the tunable filter can be tuned to demultiplex a signal in either the C- or L-band with a channel spacing of either 50 or 100 GHz. The tunable filter technology allows for precise wavelength tuning and is suitable for test applications in optical channel performance monitoring, reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer systems, noise suppression and signal tracking. The fast tuning speed of 30 ms makes it possible to tune quickly and accurately over a number of channels.
