MILFORD, Mass., Aug. 16, 2012 — Process Sensors Corp. has improved its noncontact infrared temperature sensors. The Metis MQ11/MQ22 two-color pyrometer series has been enhanced with more versatile temperature ranges and accessories.
With a temperature range from 300 to 3500 °C, the new models meet the needs of industrial applications in high-speed ferrous and nonferrous metals processing, semiconductors and ceramics as well as demanding research and development environments where phenomena of brief duration must be monitored.
Featuring a choice of three aiming methods that include through-lens sighting with reticle-defined targets, built-in focusable laser pointer, and black-and-white video camera, the sensors facilitate pinpointing of the measurement area. With focusable optics, the smallest spot size can be achieved at user-selectable measurement distances.
When developing a temperature sensing and target control system, industry professionals may choose from the standard Metis version, the fiber optic model or a miniature lens model.
The sensors are available with turnkey plug-and-play enclosures to simplify systems installation, as all the wiring is provided. One enclosure is equipped with a touch-screen display that enables setup of all sensor parameters and provides trend screens and optional solid-state alarms. Custom modifications are also available.
The built-in peak picker function (maximum value storage) can be activated to compensate for interruptions in radiation and can be reset automatically, manually or periodically using a preset clear time.
