Two-Photon iMIC Microscope

VICTOR, N.Y., Nov. 11, 2010 — Till Photonics has introduced the two-photon iMIC digital microscope, a complete system on a flexible and extendable platform. When it comes to fluorescence imaging of thick tissue, two-photon excitation microscopy is the new gold standard for in vivo imaging.

The microscope’s advantages for researchers are increased penetration depth, 3-D resolution, elimination of photodamage, reduction of tissue damage and enhanced live-cell imaging.

The iMIC-based two-photon laser scanning platform in combination with the voice coil-based focus drive enables 3-D scans with high volume and accuracy. The small footprint and the silent, compact fiber laser save space.

The Colibri LaserScan open source software offers full control over the basic setup, including the motorized microscope and the scan head, and also provides the flexibility of including further components, such as cameras, into the system.

Features of the microscope include digital galvo control, a pixel time of <1 µs, flexible line speeds from 40 µs to several seconds, speed-based scan description, and up to four channels, two for epifluorescence and two for transmission fluorescence observation.

Also featured are bidirectional scanning with all speeds, arbitrary scan tracks, spot scan, line scan and a fixed 4-MHz sampling speed with variable oversampling.
