UV Fiber Assemblies
Laser Components GmbHRequest Info
Laser Components GmbH has released assembled patch cords based on UV fibers for applications including fluorescence spectroscopy, UV laser power transmission, medical technology and UV illumination.
At very short wavelengths, solarization-resistant fibers with low UV damage are recommended. From 190 to 240 nm, damage to conventional optical fibers leads to losses in transmission and even blinding of the fiber (solarization). The company’s FBPI fiber features a high solarization resistance and has suitable transmission properties across a wavelength range from 200 to 2100 nm.
The buffer material for the UV fibers is mostly polyimide, which can withstand temperatures of up to 300 °C. Other buffers, such as acrylate or Tefzel, are available upon request.
FC, ST, SMA, high-power SMA and other connectors can be assembled with the UV fibers. For the cladding, PVC, PTFE or metal can be chosen; other claddings also are available.
