KYOTO, Japan, Aug. 20, 2008 – Kyosemi Corp. has unveiled its KPDU37S1 UV photodiode that offers high responsivity for the detection of UV light at wavelengths from 360- to 380 nm.

The photodiode has a responsivity of up to 140 mA/W at its peak wavelength. It is not sensitive to visible lights, making accurate detection without the addition of a filter possible in the presence of visible light. 

Kyosemi-UV-Photodiode.jpgIt is assembled in a 3- x 2- x 1.3-mm surface mount package and is useful for 365 nm monitoring of mercury lamps and monitoring of LED output power from 360- to 380 nm.

Applications include monitoring of UV cure processes, protein fluorescence analysis, flame detector and bill validation.

A hermetically packaged counterpart and LEDs that emit peak wavelengths of 367- and 373 nm are also available.
