WILMINGTON, Mass., March 18, 2016 —
Xenon Corp. has announced the Z-1000 pulsed light sterilization system, providing a low-temperature, nontoxic, nonchemical, mercury-free method of decontaminating surfaces up to 12 in. wide in commercial and industrial processing.
The system produces high-peak-power UV pulses at irradiance magnitudes and dose flux rates that deactivate microorganisms in seconds, and induce microbial sterilization. SteriPulse technology provides 3- to 6-log inactivation of dangerous microorganisms. Z-1000 delivers microsecond-duration pulses with peak power >1 kW/cm2 for rapid inactivation of microorganisms including fungal yeasts, molds, bacteria, rickettsiae and viruses.
The device can be used in the lab for research and prototype development, as well as integration into existing or new production lines. Individualized solutions can be developed for a wide range of applications including continuous motion, aseptic packaging, and decontamination of food surfaces and food processing environments across multiple industries like dairy, bottle and beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics.
