McPherson Inc. has released the 248/310, an ultraviolet and soft x-ray spectrometer. The instrument can detect wavelengths from ~1 to 300 nm and can measure laser harmonics from 4 eV to 1.2 keV. It can accommodate a microchannel plate intensifier, a CCD or both. The compact device is contained in stainless-steel housing and designed to operate in a 10–6 torr vacuum. The company offers an optional version of the spectrometer that works in a 10–10 torr vacuum.
