Spectra-Physics, a division of Newport Corp., has unveiled the Tsunami HP ultrafast oscillator with a tuning range of 700 to 1080 nm. The oscillator provides flexibility and extends further into the IR region than competing mode-locked Ti:sapphire lasers, according to the company. It delivers pulse durations below 100 fs, and when combined with the company’s Millennia Pro 15 as pump laser, it produces more than 3 W of average power and more than 450 kW of peak power at 800 nm. When combined with harmonic generators and the Opal automated optical parametric oscillator, it delivers a nearly gap-free tuning range from 210 to 2250 nm. Applications include biological imaging, tissue ablation, ultrafast spectroscopy and nonlinear optics.
