Ultralow-Loss Fiber

NORCROSS, Ga., Sept. 30, 2015 — Ultra Low Loss Fiber

OFS Fitel LLC has announced the TeraWave line of ultralow-loss fiber with a 50 percent greater effective area than G.652.D fiber and <0.17 dB/km loss at 1550 nm.

Designed for terabit transport, the fiber is designed to improve the performance of long-distance coherent systems and enable greater transmission distances with more wavelengths, reducing the need for expensive signal regeneration.

An optimized effective area of 125 μm² with high cabling performance and reduced attenuation improve coherent transport and spectral efficiency with 100 Gb/s and regeneration distances at 400 Gb/s.
