Ultralow-Loss Fiber

NORCROSS, Ga., Sept. 30, 2015 — Ultra Low Loss FiberOFS Fitel LLC has announced the TeraWave line of ultralow-loss fiber with a 50 percent greater effective area than G.652.D fiber and <0.17 dB/km loss at 1550 nm.

Designed for terabit transport, the fiber is designed to improve the performance of long-distance coherent systems and enable greater transmission distances with more wavelengths, reducing the need for expensive signal regeneration.

An optimized effective area of 125 μm2 with high cabling performance and reduced attenuation improve coherent transport and spectral efficiency with 100 Gb/s and regeneration distances at 400 Gb/s.
