GREENVILLE, R.I., Jan. 21, 2010 – Videology Imaging Solutions has introduced an ultrasmall 14 × 14-mm CMOS VGA color camera series for applications in environmentally demanding OEM markets. The CMOS ¼-in. imagers are ruggedized, industrial-grade ball grid array packages.
The 20B4X mini board cameras are well-suited for pipe inspection, borescope and surveillance applications. Their compact size allows them to fit into small, covert housings such as outlet covers or doorbells. They are equally suited for installation inside or outside a vehicle, inside an exposed exterior surveillance dome or integrated into any equipment that must regularly tolerate high temperatures. The boards are specified for temperature ranges of -40 to 70 °C.
The company says that the color fidelity rivals that of today's best CCDs, and, at .025 lx, the image sensors have high sensitivity, with no noise. Their ability to withstand vibration renders them suitable for automotive and test equipment applications. The low power consumption of <150 mA makes them attractive for battery-operated applications. They come standard, NTSC or PAL, with true two-field analog composite video output and are computer-controllable via I2C for OEMs looking to fine-tune an image for a specific application. .
A twisted pair balanced video output option makes the cameras cost-effective, using Cat 5 cable and eliminating the expense of coaxial cables. Mini housed versions with multiple lens options are also available. Custom configurations are possible for qualified volume OEM customers.
