BERLIN, Sept. 21, 2018 — VCSEL Chip ArrayThe 50-nm multi-mode vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) chip array from VI Systems GmbH features six emitters and provides 3.5 mW of continuous wave optical output power/channel.

Each VCSEL channel is individually addressable from top contacts. The VCSELs are positioned on a circle with a diameter of 78 μm. The chip size footprint is specified with 750 × 500 μm. For fiber sensor applications, the VCSEL emitters can be coupled into a multi-core fiber specially developed by InPhoTech and tailored for the VCSEL array.

The semiconductor device targets sensor applications including multi-core fiber sensors.
