WASHINGTON, England, Oct. 22, 2018 — VCSEL DiodesHermetically sealed in a metal can package, high-power, vertical-cavity, surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) diodes from Isocom Ltd. are an efficient radiation source for continuous-wave and pulsed-wave operation.

Through optimized strained quantum-well structure, reliability has been improved, with low threshold current and higher efficiency. A small-size package provides efficient thermal coupling. The included thermistor allows wavelength control by temperature.

Applications range from proximity sensing in phones, to observation of humans and objects within a specified distance, to light detection and ranging systems in autonomous cars.
