PREMSTAETTEN, Austria, Feb. 5, 2021 — VCSEL Flood IlluminatorsThe TARA2000-AUT series of Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) Flood Illuminators from ams AG are designed for optical in-cabin sensing systems based on 2D NIR imaging or 3D time-of-flight sensing to support assisted and autonomous driving technologies.

The series is qualified to the AEC-Q102 automotive quality standard and the ISO 26262 functional safety standard. A single TARA2000-AUT illuminator can replace multiple lower-power emitters in driver monitoring systems with high optical power being distributed over the entire field of illumination. Automotive OEMs save in space, component count, and cost.

With peak optical output centered at 940 nm and a very narrow spectrum, the TARA2000-AUT also makes it easy for automotive OEMs to achieve high immunity to interference by sunlight, improving the monitoring system’s performance and reliability. An ultra-widefield of illumination is also available for gesture-sensing applications or interior monitoring systems.
